THE awards were flying at Doncaster College when students were rewarded for hard work in the college’s Apprentice of the Year event.

Each winner received a certificate and gift voucher at the presentation evening at the Waterfront Restaurant.

Apprentice of the Year was 23-year-old customer services apprentice Laura Beighton, from Harworth.

Other honours went to Adrian Scuffham who was named Advanced Apprentice of the year, Ellie Fox-Hipwell who was named Personal Achiever of the Year; Doran, Scott and Williams Consulting, named Small Employer of the Year and UK Coal, Large Employer of the Year.

A college spokesman said: “The awards are designed to acknowledge and celebrate apprentices’ exceptional contributions to their workplace.

“All entries were judged and measured against criteria around achievement and good progress in learning, commitment to their own personal development, and producing work beyond expectations.”
