PLACES are still available for budding teachers to join a placement where they learn their craft working in classrooms.
More applicants - especially in RE, mathematics and science – are being sought by the Hallam Teaching School Alliance in Sheffield.
The alliance works with schools across South Yorkshire and is based at Notre Dame Catholic High School on Fulwood Road, which has been designated a teaching school by the Government.
New teachers are trained on the job, working with pupils every day, rather than at a university.
Teaching school director Paul Haigh said finding applicants for maths, science and RE was of particular interest.
