Apply early for new college

TEENAGERS are being urged to apply early for a place at a new college in Sheffield.

The county’s first University Technical College - which specialises in training students for jobs in the creative, digital media, advanced engineering and manufacturing sectors - is to open on Shoreham Street in September.

A waiting list for applications from 15 to 16-year-olds is already in place.

Applications are still being accepted, particularly now from the 13 to 14-year-old age group.

Principal Nick Crew said: “There has been a very strong demand for places post-16 so we would recommend young people get in early.

“If they apply now at 13 or 14 years old, they will be guaranteed an ongoing place with us once they reach 16.”

Parents and young people can sign up for free careers and information sessions at www.utcsheffield.org.uk.events or, for more details, call 0114 260 2327.
