TWO good causes have benefited from thousands of pounds raised through a north Derbyshire council chairman’s charity fund.
Coun Ann Holmes, who has just served 12 months in the role, which is similar to civic Mayor, has collected a total of £6,414.
She has now handed over cheques to the causes she was supporting – with £3,537 going to wounded troops’ charity, Help for Heroes and £2,877 for the North Derbyshire Stroke Support Group.
Coun Holmes said: “These two charities are very deserving and I would like to say a big thank you to everyone in North East Derbyshire who has given so generously over the last year.”
The area’s annual Brass Band Festival, collections and plant sales were among fundraising events held.
