An appeal has been launched after a man racially abused a fellow passenger on a busy train near Sheffield.

A man travelling on a train from Sheffield to Huddersfield subjected his victim to a ‘tirade’ of racist abuse.

The incident happened between 11pm and 11.30pm on Saturday, July 25.

PC Stephen Slocombe said: “This was a very busy service and we are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the abuse or who can help to identify the man responsible to come forward.”

The man is white with short, brown hair, aged 45 to 55-years-old. He was wearing a dark jacket with a white polo shirt.
