MORE than 100 people attended a preview of new housing on the site of a former Sheffield school.
Developer Bellway is carrying out the project at the old Bluecoats School, Psalter Lane, Nether Edge, recently used by Sheffield Hallam University.
Sales manager Melanie Smith said: “The preview exceeded our expectations.
“We’ve worked closely with residents and planners to develop a new residential quarter which protects the old school house and provides family homes.
“The first phase of the development takes in the former Bluecoats school building, where we are providing two- and three- bedroom apartments.
“Our homes will combine traditional design with modern building techniques and materials.”
Bluecoats School was built in 1911 and used as a home for orphaned or fatherless boys.
Some 14 two- and three-bedroom apartments are now being created in the old school, priced from £249,995.
Later phases will provide a selection of homes, ranging from three-bedroom townhouses to four-, five- and six-bedroom, detached family homes.
Apartments at the Old School House go on sale from Haybrook, Ecclesall Road, Banner Cross, Sheffield, from Monday.
