Animals in the spotlight
PROTESTERS dressed as wild animals and giant bottles of shampoo will be in Sheffield city centre tomorrow.
Animal protection group Uncaged is mounting the protest as part of their campaign to banish animal tested shampoo from Sheffield.
They want to turn Sheffield into the world's first "cruelty-free" city by asking residents to boycott shampoos and conditioners that have been tested on animals.
Members say they will stage a series of unusual and eye-catching events on Fargate this weekend and again in October.
Dr Dan Lyons, campaigns director at Uncaged, said: "Most people agree that it is utterly wrong to poison and kill innocent animals for such a trivial thing as shampoo.
"If you knew at least 1,500 animals suffered and died to create a shampoo, would you want to buy it?
"We hope this campaign will establish Sheffield as an ethical trailblazer, turning the public's principles into effective action against unnecessary cruelty."
