YOUNGSTERS made new furry friends at the grand opening of a Sheffield pet shop.

Fluffy bunnies, hairy hound dogs, and even a crested gecko or two joined Sheffield Wednesday’s mascot Barney Owl for the opening of the new Pets at Home store at Kilner Way Retail Park, Wadsley Bridge.

Store manager Shane Booker said: “We all worked hard to get the store looking fantastic for our customers and their pets.

“Our grand opening went very well and we look forward to being involved in the community and hope we’re able to support lots of organisations in raising awareness of pet care.”

Representatives from Sheffield charity Mill House Animal Rescue were on hand to tell customers about their work and raise funds for their cause.

The store, which bosses say has created 12 new jobs, is also home to a pet adoption centre, where small animals can be cared for until new loving homes for them can be found.
