ANGLERS at a Doncaster lake cast off in a bid to raise cash for wounded soldiers.
Hayfield Lakes, in Auckley, was the centre of one of a series of 12 fish-a-thons being run being run in aid of BLESMA – the British Limbless Ex Service Men’s Association.
The events continue nationally until May 30.
The charity supports servicemen and women who lose limbs or eyes or the use of limbs or eyes while serving their country.
Part of the entry fee from every angler entering the fish-a-thons is being donated to BLESMA.
Those who do not fish but would like to support the charity can sponsor Warrant Officers Mat Lambeth and Jack Horner.
Log onto www.justgiving.com/Penny-A-Pound-Fish-A-Thon to back them for a penny for every pound of fish they catch during the series.
Warrant Officer Lambeth said: “The tackle manufacturers and dealers have been very generous in donating prizes and we will be having both a national raffle and raffles at each of the individual events to support BLESMA.”
