Have your say

We have been asked to make it clear that the letter which appeared yesterday, signed by Angela Smith MP, was not written by her and the remarks made in the letter in no way reflect any views she may have on the subject. We regret that someone should submit a bogus letter in this way and appeal to contributors to respect the trust we show when publishing letters. We regret the embarrassment Ms Smith may have felt.

Sadistic bills

beware of two Parliamentary bills that will cause misery and distress for thousands. It is said they are designed to stop fraud and encourage people back to work. But the small print includes a sadistic attack on the most vulnerable in society. Many disabled people are now in a stressful state, fearing they will be a target for this unthinking coalition. These are the worst bills since the Poll Tax. Let us hope the Lib Dems have the courage to vote against them and we return to sanity.

Mammy’s Boys

there’s been much controversy over school-run parents blocking the roads up. I live on the Arbourthorne Estate which now has an academy for pupil’s aged from 12 upwards. Every day we see cars parked either side of Hurlfied Roard, a bus route. Surely pupils aged 12 and over don’t need to be carried to school. Aren’t they old enough to get themselves there or are they just Mammy’s Boys?
