How a-peel-ing.

Young and old – we all love apples.

And at this time of the year they are in plentiful supply as visitors to an open day at Beighton’s ancient orchard off Robin Lane discovered.

The event, organised by Sheffield Council with Sheffield Landscape Trust and
Beighton Environment Group, attracted apple lovers from across the city.

Visitors picked their own apples, peeled them on a mechanical peeler then crushed some to sample the juice. Apple experts were on hand to inform people of many tasty varieties grown at the orchard and visitors made bird boxes to purchase with proceeds to maintain the orchard.
