All hands to the pump

THIS year's Oakwood Beer Festival is going to be the biggest ever.

Organisers are describing the Rotherham event from Thursday February 18 to Saturday February 20 at Oakwood Technology College on Moorgate Road as "the largest handpump festival in the world".

A spokesman added: "If you can't find a beer you like at Oakwood, there isn't one! We have beers from breweries from all over the north of England, from South Yorkshire right up to Scotland."

The festival boasts more than 200 beers from 80 British breweries.

The spokesman added: "There are styles of beer to suit all palates, from mild and golden ales to the darkest of stouts. We are pleased to feature the Camra Champion Winter Beer of Britain - 1872 Porter from Elland.

"There are many speciality beers such as an organic vegan Fairtrade ginger pale ale so everyone can find something new and unusual. There are also more than 25 foreign bottled beers and lagers."
