Comedy, music and fun is on offer in Penistone this weekend for the town’s annual gala.
Comedy In A Tent will see stand-up at Penistone Showground in Back Lane from 7.15pm tonight, before a folk festival tomorrow and a mayor’s parade on Sunday.
Folk acts playing at the Showground from 1-4pm tomorrow include Val Doonican and Folkus before a rock concert from 7.30pm including Bootleg 60s & The Maestros.
On Sunday visitors will be treated to a mayor’s parade through Penistone town centre at noon with a Tour De France theme, while the gala field will see family fun activities on offer including face painting, bumper cars and trampolines.
The main arena will play host to the Stannage International Stunt Team who specialise in car, motorbike and fire tricks, while other arenas will see cheerleaders and other family friendly events on offer.
“It’s great tht we’ve been able to add a free, under-cover Folk Festival to the weekend’s festivities on Saturday,” said Jon Gilbert from co-organisers Penistone Round Table.
Tickets will be available on the gate at the Showground or via www.penistonegala.co.uk, and the event is free to under-16s.
