The first residents moving into the revamped Park Hill flats at the end of the year say they are ‘impressed’ with renovation work at the landmark complex.

Charles Johnson, aged 22, a final year medical student at Sheffield University, has bought a three-bedroom flat to live in and rent out to two friends.

Charles had been keen to buy rather than rent when it came to securing a new home, and decided to buy his flat on Norwich Street after being ‘impressed’ by the high-quality finish of the show flat which felt ‘spacious and good value for money’.

He said: “From looking at other flats in Sheffield, there wasn’t anything else on the market that could beat it and it’s a chance to be a part of an exciting renovation in its initial stages.”

Kathy and David Price, a retired couple, first looked at the Park Hill flats after a recommendation from their son who is interested in architecture. They made the decision to downsize from their family home in Conisbrough to a one-bed flat on Hague Street.

Kathy said: “We were really impressed with the renovation and we like the building - it is undoubtedly a part of Sheffield’s history. This feels like our last chance to be part of something special and it is exciting to think a new community can be created at Park Hill.

“People need to give it a chance and we hope people of all ages will want to move to Park Hill and help to create the vision of Park Hill as a thriving area with shop and pubs and the nursery.

“The flats are in a great location and we will have a fantastic view of Sheffield from our new home so we are definitely excited about moving in and being one of the first residents.”

Other buyers include Gemma Hartshorne, who has bought a flat on Long Henry Street, and is relocating to Sheffield to begin her career as a doctor.
