GREEN-fingered Alicia Cannon is digging deep to support a charity which helped her grandfather through cancer.
The 12-year-old, from Crookes, a pupil at King Edward VII School, is selling custom-made seed packets at Bakewell Farmers’ Market this weekend.
She hopes to encourage people to grow their own vegetables using environmentally friendly methods – with proceeds going to Weston Park Hospital.
Alicia said: “I wanted to raise money for the Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity after my grandpa fell ill with leukaemia.
“He still receives treatment and care from the hospital which has been excellent, so this is my little way of showing my appreciation and that of my family.
“As a vegetarian, I’m passionate about growing fruit and veg. Everything tastes even better when home grown and that’s how I came up with Dig for Charity, selling seeds across Sheffield.”
