A SHEFFIELD air cadet was flying high – after being invited to climb aboard an RAF Hawk aircraft and have a go at the controls while airborne.
Flight Sergeant Matt Davis was given the opportunity while with fellow members of 366 Squadron Air Training Corps, based at Greenhill, on a visit to RAF Valley, in Anglesey, Wales, where Prince William is stationed.
He said: “It was amazing, by far the best and most tiring experience of my life so far, the G forces you feel in the Hawk are something else!”
Cadets also had to have a go on the Hawk flight simulator, looked round the Sea King search and rescue helicopters and visited air traffic control, the fire station, engine bay, aircraft maintenance and the search and rescue headquarters.
The visit was during a one-week training camp.
