A CHILDREN’S charity is calling for people to join an adventure challenge to raise money to help runaways.

Teams of three are challenged to race around a specially-designed obstacle course and collect points to win prizes.

Dinnington-based charity SAFE@LAST will be holding their Big Adventure Challenge at Rother Valley County Park on Sunday, September 18.

The course will also include memory tests, balloon challenges and five-legged races.

Hilary Massarella founded the charity ten years ago after watching a documentary about a young girl who runs away from home to escape abuse, turning to prostitution to survive.

SAFE@LAST now provides a full range of services for young people in South Yorkshire, from prevention to crisis intervention.

Competitors in the challenge can choose their own course, depending on their fitness and stamina, and are encouraged to take part in fancy dress.

Hilary said: “My team and I are really looking forward to taking part in this year’s BIG Adventure Challenge and we’ve been training hard so we can do SAFE@LAST proud.

“We’ve still got room for more teams, so if you’re up for a challenge and a good laugh grab your friends and join us.”
