Adoption hotline draws on volunteers’ experiences

Sheffield’s new dedicated adoption hotline is up and running - and is being run by volunteers with first hand knowledge of the process.

Being Family, a new group covering the whole region, has set up the helpline on 0300 2225934 to answer queries from potential adopters.

It runs five days a week, Monday to Friday, from 10am to 6pm.

Many of the advisers have adopted children themselves and can talk about what the options are and how rewarding the experience is.

Manager Nic Haughton said: “Our helpline team have been specially selected for their inside knowledge of adoption.

“We want potential adopters to be able to talk to qualified members of Being Family who understand the process and can talk about how life changing the process is.”
