Waitrose sheds light on theft

SHINE a light, Waitrose has ‘significantly improved’ security at its cycle racks after a theft from outside the store in Sheffield.

The up-market supermarket, which makes great play of its green credentials, was accused of failing cyclists after a bike was pinched.

The racks are in a dingy alcove with no camera or signs, making it easy for thieves to cut locks.

A spokesman said: “The lighting has now been significantly improved to ensure the cycle racks are much better lit. Thanks for bringing this to our attention. “
