Shop around for best deal
DON’T feel pressured into taking out an extended warranty when you buy an electrical appliance, says the Financial Ombudsman Service.
The best thing you can do is go home, check your insurance and shop around.
The spokesman also said the FOS could take action if customers were promised speedy response times which were not kept.
But contact the underwriters of the warranty first.
He said: “Selling insurance is regulated. If you have a complaint contact us.”
The FOS handled 684 complaints between April and December – two thirds were upheld in the consumer’s favour.
