Keep an eye on old folk

LOOK out for elderly and vulnerable people in this weekend’s cold snap, a councillor is urging.

Carol Hart, of Derbyshire County Council, said: “One of the main concerns in the severe weather last year was people running out of food, heating oil and medication because they didn’t want to venture out, so this is somewhere we could all play an important role and be a good neighbour this winter.

“We know that prolonged spells of severe weather can cause problems, but if we all take extra care and look out for our elderly or vulnerable neighbours, we can stay safe.”

Temperatures are set to plunge as low as -5C this weekend.
