A SHEFFIELD man has been arrested after a suspected attempt to abduct a little girl in Doncaster.

The seven-year-old was riding her bike when she was approached by an unknown man who asked her to get into his car - a green or turquoise coloured estate - which was parked across the road on Mutual Street in Hexthorpe.

The girl refused, ran to her house and went inside.

The man is believed to have followed her and stood outside the house for a short time.

A man from Sheffield has been arrested and bailed pending further inquiries.

Det Insp Rich Partridge, of South Yorkshire Police, said: “Parents should be aware, and urge their children to stay safe.”
