A SHEFFIELD playground and park area is again the pride of the local community after the completion of a major refurbishment project.
The improved Burngreave Recreation Ground was officially opened by Coun Jackie Drayton, Cabinet member for children and young people, following consultations with local residents and children.
Improvements include re-landscaped access points, better routes across the site and a naturalistic play area.
It was also important that a balance was maintained between important wildlife habitats and a place people feel safe to use.
Coun Drayton said: “It’s great to see the wonderful improvements to this important green space in the heart of Burngreave.
The opening included activities for children as part of the Activity Sheffield Pitsmoor Adventure Playground Fun Day, which is next to the playground.
Burngreave Rec will be the 21st site improved by the council’s Play Project and the Sheffield Let’s Change 4 Life programme, which aims to offer top quality opportunities for safe active play.
