Seventies TV favourite It’s a Knockout came to South Yorkshire – when Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice held a fundraising challenge.

In the event 17 teams battled against each other to be crowned the champions.

Contestants went head to head dressed in huge giant suits and fought their way through suds and bubbles, climbing slippery slopes and diving into washing machines.

A team from Sheffield Wednesday took the crown – beating off close competition from Cemex in second place and Aviva Avengers in third.

The event, at Dinnington Rugby Club, also included a family fun day with stalls, children’s rides, bouncy castles and a barbecue.

And organisers say the sunshine lasted all day bringing in more than 1,000 visitors.

The event looks set to raise more than£12,000 for Bluebell Wood, thanks to the fantastic fundraising efforts of the teams and support from the local community.

Julie Hampson, corporate fundraiser at Bluebell Wood, said the event was a big success and said: “We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who made the event possible, especially Dinnington Rugby Club, our support group Blu Crew and all the contestants who took part.”
