A serial shoplifter has been jailed for over a year after committing a string of offences in Hillsborough.

Alan Raymond Jones, of Springvale Walk, Walkley, Sheffield, was jailed for 16 months after pleaded guilty to eight offences.

The judge at Sheffield Crown Court also said Jones would spend an extra 12 months on licence after his release, for four offences of shoplifting, three breaches of a communuity behaviour order and one count of failing to appear at court.

The court heard Jones was a 'known offender' in the Hillsborough area and committed these crimes in September of this year.

Sheffield North West Inspector Colette Fitzgibbons, said: “This male has continually targeted the area of Hillsborough to commit thefts, so as an area team we have worked with the shop keepers and ASB teams to secure this conviction.

“This is a great result for the community of Hillsborough”.
