CHANGES to parking rules at Sheffield Children’s Hospital mean that people visiting accident and emergency can park for free from today.
The eight short-stay spaces on Western Bank are now for patients and families visiting A&E only.
They were previously used by the general public but have now been restricted and are available for up to four hours at a time.
John Reid, director of nursing at Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust, said: “We realise that parking is in high demand at our site but have an obligation to protect spaces for parents attending A&E. These parents are often anxious to get their child treated as soon as possible and these spaces are immediately adjacent to the A&E.”
Sheffield Council will enforce the system and anyone without a permit, available from the hospital, will be given a fixed penalty notice.
