WOOOOOOO! Wrestling superstar Ric Flair is in South Yorkshire to say thanks to his fans - and spoke exclusively to The Star.
The 59-year-old, famed for his colourful robes and "Wooooooo!" catchphrase, recently retired in front of millions of TV viewers on WrestleMania 24.

Now the former WWE legend has flown in from the USA to be the special guest star at 1PW's Third Anniversary Show at Doncaster Dome on Saturday, October 18.

But while a host of other grapplers - including other ex-WWE and British wrestlers will slam, bash and smash one another around, Ric has called it a day.

He said: I don't think I'll ever wrestle again. I never say never. But I've no plans to make a comeback.

"When I retired from WWE earlier this year and I was inducted into the Hall Of Fame, with all the tributes from the world's greatest wrestlers, that was it.

"But I wanted to be here this weekend to meet my fans, say thanks and sign autographs. That's all.

"I've been coming here since the 1980s and English fans are amongst the best in the world. They are devoted to us and understand the shows.''

Flair is considered by many as the greatest wrestler of the modern era. He won many world titles and is one of the biggest names ever in the world of wrestling entertainment.

Now a grandad, he said: "I'm in great shape. I still train five times a week. But now my efforts are training my son Reid, who will be a huge wrestling star - guaranteed.

"He's about a year away from making his debut on WWE. You could very well see me back at ringside with him in the future.''

There will be a once-in-a-lifetime up close and personal question and answer session with Flair at the Dome at 12 noon.

Other stars on the 6pm show include former WWE wrestlers Raven and Doug Basham, former ECW champion Steve Corino, the 'Flaming German' Ulf Herman, Ring of Honour madman Delirious, 1PW World Champion Sterling James Keenan and many local and national British stars.

1PW Third Anniversary Show tickets are £50 ringside, £28 floor seating, £24 stalls, £10 balcony. Ric Flair question and answer session tickets are £25 in advance and £30 on the day. For tickets and information visit www.1pwonline.com or call Doncaster Dome box office on 01302 370777.

* World Wrestling Entertainment action returns to Sheffield Arena on Sunday, November 9, 5pm.
It will feature RAW brand superstars such as John Cena, Batista, Randy Orton, Rey Mysterio, Kane, Chris Jericho and Shawn Michaels – who, along with Triple H, is rated by Flair as one of the greatest ever wrestlers.
The line-up is subject to change.
Tickets are now very limited and cost £45, £35 & £25, may be subject to a booking fee. Buy in person, call the Arena box office on 0114 256 5656 or buy on line at www.sheffieldarena.co.uk
