A TAKEAWAY boss has closed his Sheffield shop after being hit with a brick, kicked, punched, threatened with a knife and racially abused.
The businessman, who refused to be named for fear of reprisals, has closed Abbey Pizza on Blackstock Road, Gleadless, after the latest in a long list of attacks he has endured since he took over the shop in May.

The 32-year-old, who is originally
from Iran and has lived in Sheffield for eight years, is convinced the attacks are racially motivated and said he no longer feels safe working in his shop.

In the latest incident he was hit over the head with a brick, kicked and punched for simply challenging a group of youths about their behaviour outside his shop.

He claims the yobs hurled a stone at his customers and when they began to surround and attack him they were joined by a group of adults who threw the brick at his head.

"They were like a pack of animals surrounding me, kicking and punching me, so when I moved away from them closer to get closer to the CCTV so it would be picked up a group of men then came across and joined in and it was one of them who threw the brick at me," he said.

He claims he rings South Yorkshire Police on a weekly basis to report incidents - "As far as I am aware nobody has ever been taken to court over what they are doing to me and that makes me feel let down," he said. "I get racist phone calls, I get physically attacked and I have even had a knife pulled out on me - where is it going to end?"

Inspector Tim Ireland, from Woodseats and Gleadless Valley Safer Neighbourhood Team, said:"Following previous incidents reported by him, numerous local youths have been arrested and some have been charged or issued with fixed penalty notices for their involvement."

Gleadless Valley used to be a flagship estate - now I'm embarrassed to say I live there; the scum that hang around the bus terminus are all ages and a lot of people wont venture to those shops even in daytime as they attract trash like dog muck attracts flies!

I was at a shop on Middlewood Road last night just after a group of teenagers had been in and the staff were checking what they had stolen, which included crisps and cans of lager, so it's not just Gleadless. We have the power as a nation to put a stop to this, we just need politicians with B***S to put the policies in place. I work in Manchester and one local news report I heard had groups of residents going round protecting their estate. Vigilantes are frowned upon, but maybe that's what it needs.

Iknow something is wrong with our society and it needs sorting.Parents need to be responsible for their children. Most 30 somethings came from normal homes with nan and grandads who had values and the same values should have been passed on to their teenage children.I hate when people critise estates like the gleadless valley, the manor etc good decent famileis came from there and had values. We need families to come together and say we are a good community and kids who sre a problem embrace and help

The problem is all over and is the fault of bleeding heart liberals who have made it possible for "youths" to get away with most anything. We can't even look at em funny or they have the social services and police on us.But they are allowed to verbally, physically abuse adults all they want. Schools can't touch them, nor the police.Even parents who try and manage their childrens bad behaviour could find themselves in trouble for it. Where i live it;s gangs of asian youths,They run riot and are racially abusive to anyone who is none Asian.often verbally and physically abusive to, but nothing is ever done about it, people are to scared to say anything, what a terrible place England has become.

Police cant do nothing! And wont do nothing!

Plus its very hard to deal with these inbreds off estates like Manor, Gleadless, Shiregreen, Ecclesfield, Parson x etc because they have been bought up like animals.
