A CHURCH leader told today how he saw murder victim Tarek Chaiboub weeping over the shooting of Jonathan Matondo - and was surprised the Sheffield teenager didn't heed the lesson of his pal's death.
It is believed 17-year-old Tarek was armed and both he and his murderer drew guns against each other before he was fatally shot at Frenchie's barbers, Spital Street, Burngreave, last Friday lunchtime.

Rev Jacques Kinsiona, of Light of Christ Churc
h, Hannover Street, in the city centre, was among ministers who worked with young people in Burngreave after the death in October last year of Jonathan, aged 16, at Nottingham Cliff Recreation Ground, Pitsmoor.

He said: "Tarek was there and he was crying over Jonathan's death. We were saying the youths should not carry knives and guns - and the teenagers agreed. I am surprised Tarek hadn't learned the lesson from what happened to his friend."

Tarek had been lucky to survive being stabbed multiple times the previous weekend, with some wounds narrowly missing vital organs.

Rev Kinsiona added Tarek's murder happened despite three meetings between the council and the Burngreave community after Jonathan's death, to try to find a way deterring young people from gangs.
