ROTHERHAM residents are being urged to be on their guard after a series of sneak-in burglaries.
Police said they believe the same man is responsible for three burglaries in three days - all in Aston.
In the first incident at 3.20pm on Saturday, a man was seen inside a property on Arlington Avenue.
When he was confronted by the homeowner h
e asked him if he wanted snow clearing from his path, before leaving empty handed.
Police said footprints discovered in the back garden were thought to be the suspect's.
In the second incident at 3pm on Monday a man was spotted inside a house on Clumber Rise.
He also asked the homeowner if he needed snow clearing. Birthday cards were stolen.
The third incident happened later the same day at around 4pm in Windsor Rise.
Although the burglar wasn't spotted, footprints were found in the snow in the back garden and cash had been stolen.
DCI Craig Robinson said: "We believe these three break-ins have been committed by the same individual and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward. "I would like to remind people to ensure back and front doors are always locked and windows are not left open."
The suspect is aged around 20, 5ft 9in to 5ft 11in tall, of medium build with a "fresh, youthful, round face" and a local accent.
He was wearing a dark hat with a flap, a grey coat and was carrying a large blue snow shovel.
