CUSTOMERS at Sheffield's Meadowhall centre have been giving generously in the run up to Christmas to help disadvantaged youngsters across the region.
The 'Give A Gift Sleigh' has been installed at the shopping Mecca by Barnardo's, with shoppers invited to pick up a tag and buy a present for the child described.

Staff said the response to the campaign has been "overwhelming," with the first collection of gifts from the overflowing sleigh already having been made to make room.

The goodies will be distributed to thousands of children helped by the charity across Yorkshire.

Madeleine Capron, from Meadowhall, said: 'We have been truly overwhelmed by the generosity of our shoppers towards the Give a Gift appeal.

"Every Christmas it is a success but this year has exceeded all expectations and we would like to thank everyone who has supported the Barnardo's children."

Trina Naylor, fundraiser at Barnardo's in Yorkshire, added: "We are so grateful for all the support that Meadowhall has given to the 'Give a Gift Appeal' and especially to all the centre's shoppers who have shown such wonderful generosity - their response so far has been truly fantastic."
