THE LINK between magic mushrooms and Christmas mythology will be unveiled during a festive event at Sheffield Hallam University.
National experts on mushrooms, mythology and the environment will be speaking on Saturday November 28.

Host Dr Ian Rotherham said: "People probably don't think of Christmas and mushrooms as having anything to do with each other. But in ancient tim
es reindeer in Scandinavia would eat the hallucinogenic mushrooms then leap around across the bleak tundra landscape, to the amazement of the Lapps who were probably also eating the mushrooms.

The event, called 'The Magic, Mystery and Mythology of Christmas', starts at 6.15pm in Sheffield Hallam's Pennine Theatre. Tickets , £5, include mince pies and mulled wine.
