AHOY there me hearties!
A shipmate from Sheffield is to share his experiences of life on the waves in a fly-on-the-wall documentary TV show.

Sailor Jonathan Little, from Stocksbridge, is one of the characters to feature in the series about life on board Royal Navy aircra
ft carrier HMS Illustrious.

The TV show – Warship, which begins on Monday on Five – follows the crew's progress as they complete a rigorous training programme off the Devon coast, before leaving for the Mediterranean and the Indian Ocean.

Jonathan, aged 27, joined the Royal Navy in 2001, becoming an officer in 2006. So far he has served on five ships, visited 35 countries, and is soon set for another promotion.

He said: "I've enjoyed my time onboard and am really looking forward to the fresh challenge of running my own department."

The show airs at 9pm and runs for six weeks.
