THE theme may have been one of peace but there was little of it outside Sheffield Town Hall courtesy of Roy Bull and his bell.
It was his job to alert shoppers to Sheffield Peace and Craft Fair - which gave shoppers the chance to do some early Christmas present hunting.

But as well as stalls selling a variety of crafts the elegant surroundings of the reception rooms hosted a number of campaign stalls spreading worthy campaign messages.

Tricia Sheerer, one of the organisers of an event stretching back more than 20 years, said: "The main message was one of peace and the fair supports that message," she said. "But beside the stalls with campaign material are the crafts stalls."

With the continental market pulling more shoppers into the city centre on Saturday - the day before Remembrance Day - fair organisers had to turn some people away as they reached capacity.

But many got to find out more about organisations such as Amnesty International, CND, Friends Of The Earth Sheffield Esteli Society and Chernobyl Children Life Line as well as enjoy music from the likes of Linda Lee Welch, folk group Band For Life and accordionist Philip Croft.
