Last Saturday, the couple were given a shock when they finished in the bottom two of Strictly Come Dancing after their Cha Cha Cha.
They had managed just 12 hours of practice because of Emma's Children In Need commitments.
But, as they set about ta
ckling the American Smooth for tonight, Darren warned that only 100 per cent commitment would do and insisted on long hours in the practice studio.
Meanwhile, his wife and professional dance partner Lilia Kopylova is going from strength the strength with rugby star Matt Dawson.
Their waltz delighted the judges and was hailed as the best dance of the series - and awarded a 10 - by head judge Len Goodman.
Thrilled Lilia said: "We came top of the leader board, had the highest score and the best dance of the series - amazing!
"It's very exciting to be on top but it's very scary too because people have expectations of you. I'm confident in Matt. He's in a very good frame of mind at the moment and I need to use that."
Tonight the couple leave ballroom behind and are busy perfecting their jive. Matt said: "I'm throwing everything into it. I'm sweating in training and just going for it."
A fun vote on the BBC website put Lilia and Matt as second favourites with just 6.1 per cent of voters wanting them to voted out, behind Mark Ramprakash and Karen Hardy at five per cent.
But 11.6 per cent thought Emma and Darren should be knocked out, behind Claire King and Brendan Cole at 56.4 per cent and Carol Smillie and Matthew Cutler with 14.4 per cent of the vote.
Despite their Strictly commitments, Darren and Lilia have a hectic timetable, finding time last week to successfully defend their British National Professional Latin title.
Darren, of Treeton, who was born in Deepcar and brought up in Todwick, and Lilia travelled to Blackpool last week to finish first in every dance they performed in the competition.
It meant a 6am start and a dash up the motorway to Blackpool then, immediately after the results were announced, a return journey back to London to grab a few hours sleep before going to the BBC for last Saturday's episode of Strictly Come Dancing.
And Darren and Lilia have also helped Peak villagers raise a record amount for charity.
They donated an hour's dancing lesson for an auction of promises organised by Eyam Half Marathon Committee which raised £6,200.
The chance to take to the floor with the Latin American champions raised bids of more than £700.
