New role for police chief

A NEW senior ranking police officer has been appointed to oversee the policing of Chesterfield.
Chief Supt Roger Flint, who was in charge of policing the High Peak and Derbyshire Dales, took over in Chesterfield yesterday following the retirement of Debbie Kelly, who served in the police for 33 years.

Chf Supt Flint began his career as a bea
t bobby in Chesterfield, and worked as an inspector in the town and in Staveley, before being promoted to Chief Inspector at Chesterfield's Beetwell Street station.

He also worked as the match day commander at Chesterfield Town's home games in 1997.
