A MURDER investigation has been launched by detectives after a woman was found dead in a leafy South Yorkshire suburb.
The 43-year-old, who has not yet been named, was discovered by police called to a semi-detached house on Stag Lane, Broom, Rotherham, at 5.50am yesterday.
A 46-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and was quizzed yesterday by detectives.
He was kept in custody overnight and police were due to continue questioning him today.
The woman was already dead when police arrived at the house, it has been revealed.
It is not known who alerted police or under what circumstances.
Detectives have not disclosed how the woman died but a post mortem examination was held last night.
Police cordoned off the neat red brick semi where the body was found and had it under guard all day.
Forensics experts in white protective suits and scenes of crime officers examined the property.
Police also sealed off the road outside the property.
Officers also carried out investigations in the community, calling at neighbouring homes to establish whether they saw or heard anything suspicious.
