MONTY the mascot doesn't mind getting his paws wet as he helped out at a fundraising car wash in Sheffield.
The face of the RSPCA's Monty's Magic Million campaign had a splashing time getting vehicles clean at Enterprise Rent A Car on Sheffield Road, Attercliffe.
The event was organised by manager Hazel Dyson to raise cash for the Monty's appeal - backed by The Star - to raise £1 million towards an RSPCA shelter in Attercliffe.
The former city centre shelter at Spring Street had to close to make way for the Sheffield inner relief road.
Hazel decided to act after meeting RSPCA fundraiser Debi Price at a function.
She said: "I've always been interested in the RSPCA and, when Debi told me about the appeal, I thought it was a worthwhile cause and wanted to do something to help. I've got a kitten called Tigger and another girl in the office has got a cat with only three legs which she got from the RSPCA, so the charity is close to our hearts."
The first round of an RSPCA Spot the Ball competition raised £113.74 for the charity in Sheffield. The first two winners were Carole Hodson, of Burley, Lancashire, and Louise Booth from Sheffield. Details of the next competition are on websire http://rspcasheffield.org/games/spotthe ball.
You can make a donation to Monty's Magic Million by calling the appeal telephone number on 0870 754 0346 quoting reference 05 RFN SHEFF.
Donations can also be made by cheque, which should be made payable to RSPCA. You should also write, either on the front right hand corner or on the back, the reference 05 RFN SHEFF.
Cash or cheques can be donated at The Star office in York Street, Sheffield, at the RSPCA shop on Ecclesall Road, Sheffield or by sending them to Monty's Magic Million Appeal, RSPCA RHQ North, PO Box BR29, Leeds, LS13 2XL.
Sponsorship forms, posters to advertise an event or collecting cans are available by contacting fundraising manager Debi Price at the above address or by calling 0870 7538802.
