ROTHERHAM businessman Mike Smith has been app-ointed right hand-man to the Queen's Lord Lieutenant in South Yorkshire.
Mike, of Wickersley, who has held several influential positions across the county including President of Rotherham Chamber of Commence, takes over as Lieutenancy Officer from David Fisher, who has been in the role for 22 years.

His new role will be to support David Moody who, as Lord Lieutenant, helps promote the region, manage royal visits and co-ordinate royal awards.

Mike, a director of the Magna Centre in Rotherham, said: "I am eager to maximise the benefits the Lieutenancy can bring to the county and citizens, raising South York-shire's profile and helping to recognise individuals, companies and voluntary organisations that do so much to secure our economic and social wellbeing."
