A MAN was fighting for his life in Barnsley this morning after being stabbed in his leg in a town centre street.
The 23-year-old, from Barnsley, was attacked during a disturbance on Shambles Street at around midnight and was due to undergo surgery at Barnsley District General Hospital this morning.
Police say he suffered life threatening injuries.

e were called to the scene at around 12.05am and immediately sealed the road off to preserve the area for a forensic examination.
They also sealed off nearby Churchfields, where Barnsley police station is based, but both roads were re-opened by 7am.
Blood stains could be seen on Shambles Street this morning.
Three people have been arrested on suspicion of wounding, including a 15-year-old boy and a 25-year-old man.
They were in police custody this morning being quizzed over the attack.
