Children from Oakes Park School at Norton were invited to the City Learning Centre based at Newfield School to create their own answers to Wallace and Gromit.

The youngsters used the centre's digital media facilities and expertise to create their films, writing their own scripts and then making the scenery, props and models.

The final stage saw their stories filmed and edited, before the addition of music and a variety of special effects.

The gingerbread characters themselves were created from plasticine - not gingerbread!

CLC training centre Catherine Moore said the pupils really got into the project.

"They've worked hard to get to grips with the equipment and technology to produce a fantastic piece of work," she added.

The City Learning Centre will soon be able to offer even more resources to schools and the local community as it is expanding its facilities to include new digital media studios.
