HOODIES needn't mean hoodlums – as a group of Sheffield young people showed when they attended a sporting summer camp.
A group of 60 children proudly wore their hoodies at the Camp Sheffield project – proving that not all youngsters wearing the distinctive garb are up to no good.

The aim of the camp, run by the city council, was to encourage kids to get excited about sport and physical activity.

Many were given the chance to try things that were completely new to them, such as climbing and mountain biking.

Project organiser Ian Anniss said: "The kids themselves came up with the idea of reclaiming the hoodie.

"The point they wanted to make was that young people who wear hoodies are not all bad, and can get involved in good things too."

Coun Andrew Sangar, cabinet member of children's services, said he thought the project was a great idea.

He added: "This summer there are more free activities for Sheffield young people than ever before, and Camp Sheffield is a great example of work to encourage teenagers to take part in physical activity.

"The range of activities on offer is incredible – I wish there had been something like this when I was at school!"

Well done! Also..on a fashion note..I think you'll find the trash element wear black shellsuits and hooped jumpers rather than hoodys (both sexes)
