GONE but not forgotten...
Tinsley Cooling Towers may have come crashing to the ground last weekend - but The Star is keeping their memory alive.
Our Saturday edition will have an eight page souvenir pull-out devoted to the much-loved iconic landmarks.
Crammed full of
old and new photos of the towers, readers' memories and poems and stunning pictures of the demolition, it is a must-have memento.
Thousands of people - estimates range between 5,000 and 12,000 - people watched the two 250ft towers, lovingly referred to by generations as the salt and pepper pots and the gateway to the north, being demolished shortly after 3am on Sunday.
