CAMPAIGNING Sheffield journalist Adrian Sudbury has died after losing his battle against leukaemia aged 27.
Adrian, who penned a heart-rending blog detailing his fight against two types of leukaemia, passed away in the early hours of this morning with his family by his side at his parents' home in Nottinghamshire.
The High Green journalist's internet diary - Baldy's Blog - built a loyal following of readers since he began describing the trauma of his treatment and a worsening prognosis following the diagnosis of his illness in March last year.
He is thought to be the only person in the world to have been diagnosed with two different forms of the disease.
A digital journalist for the Huddersfield Express and Examiner, Adrian spent his final weeks campaigning for more public awareness of bone marrow donation.
During his campaign he met and enlisted the support of a host of dignitaries, celebrities and politicians including Prince Charles, Gary Lineker, Sir Ian Botham and the Prime Minister Gordon Brown.
He met schools secretary Ed Balls when he handed over a petition backed by more than 10,000 people calling on the Government to introduce education about bone marrow donation into schools and colleges.
His dying wish was to give 16,000 people around the world the chance to have a transplant which could help to save their lives.
Adrian had undergone a bone marrow transplant which he was subsequently told had failed.
After being give just weeks to live the crusading journalist vowed to dedicate the rest of his life to improving awareness of bone marrow donation.
Leave Adrian a tribute in our Condolence Book.
