CRIMINALS are set to be shocked by a hard hitting police campaign in South Yorkshire that will see footage of real-life raids being beamed on to giant public screens.
Officers in South Yorkshire have joined forces with colleagues in North Yorkshire, West Yorkshire and Humberside police for the Maximum Impact on Crime Operation running throughout February.

As part of the campaign against violent crime, criminal
damage, burglary and car crime a mobile display vehicle is touring the counties to screen footage of successful police operations, including officers raiding a house and sniffer dogs searching a car.

Maximum Impact has already led to more than 2,000 arrests in South Yorkshire.

Officers in South Yorkshire have also recovered more than half a million pounds worth of controlled drugs, over £440,000 worth of property and they have seized 200 vehicles.

Temporary assistant Chief Constable Paul Broadbent, who is leading the campaign in South Yorkshire. said: "Police and other partners involved in community safety will protect communities from the small number of mindless and selfish individuals who seek to steal from others and commit crime."

Anyone with information about crimes should call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
