BRIGHT yellow sunflowers brought a splash of colour to the funeral of a Sheffield teenager killed in a car smash more than six weeks ago.
Family and friends of 18-year-old Adam Thorpe finally got the chance to say their goodbyes at the City Road Crematorium service, after waiting five weeks for his body to be released.
Leading the funeral procession was Adam's sister Katie Hunt, aged 22, wearing a vibrant orange top, walking alongside her brother Ryan, 16.
A former pupil of Campsmount Technical College in Doncaster, Adam also leaves mum Maxine and two other brothers Chris, 20, and Scott, 13.
Adam, of Broom Walk, Broomhall, died on Monday June 9 when the stolen car he was travelling in smashed into a tree as it was being followed by police.
His relatives are convinced that when he accepted a lift as the front seat passenger in the Ford Escort he did not realise it was stolen.
The car was spotted by police in Doncaster who followed it through the town until it crashed near the racecourse on Leger Way.
The alleged driver, Andrew Langham, aged 40, from Ireland, has been charged with manslaughter and also faces charges of illegal entry to the UK in breach of a deportation order, and being in breach of a Sex Offenders' Register order.
He had the right to request a second post mortem examination which contributed to the delay of the funeral.
