THEY may be tired and footsore - but these two friends are proud to have tackled a mammoth trek in South America which helped a city charity.
Bob Mulgrew and Andrew Wellwood, who work at Sheffield firm Cogne UK, took on the arduous challenge of walking for 11 days though the Andes to complete the Inca Trail Trek in Peru.

Bob, aged 50, from Dinnington, and Andrew, 30, from Kiveton Park, took on the Marie Curie Cancer Care challenge to raise money for the region's specialist home nursing service which provides free care to patients with terminal cancer.

The pair, along with adventurers from across the country, trekked and camped on steep and rugged terrain through sacred valleys and stunning towns and villages of the Andes, and finished at the world famous 'lost city' of Machu Picchu.

Bob said: "When I reached my 50th birthday I decided I wanted to do something really special.

"t was an amazing experience and such an adventure. It was certainly challenging but I did it, and had a brilliant time.

"I'm so proud of myself and Andrew for what we've achieved - and for raising almost £5,000 for Marie Curie Cancer Care with money still coming in."

The charity is organising more fundraising overseas challenges. Log on to www.mariecurie.org.uk/ discover for details.
