A YEAR ago today Simon and Cheryl Young saw their South Yorkshire home flooded - and then looted by opportunist thieves.
But despite the heartache which last year's disaster brought to their lives, the couple from Adwick, Doncaster, will be celebrating - because it marks the first birthday for their baby boy Charlie.
The first anniversary of the floods that devastated South Yorkshire has brought mixed emotions for Simon.
His home on The Paddock was wrecked by the water last year - and then looted twice along with three other homes.
But the day the rains started also brought little Charlie, born on June 25.
"My wife Cheryl was booked in for an induction on June 25 as the baby was two weeks late," said Simon, aged 36 "Obviously the op had to go ahead rain or no rain and it certainly took our minds of being flooded.
"After we realised how badly our house was damaged we toyed with the idea of naming the baby River - especially as I'm a keen fisherman. However common sense prevailed.
"We're over it now I suppose. You've got to put it behind you haven't you? And it's great that it's Charlie's birthday. As the years go by that's how we'll remember June 25 - not because of the floods."
