SUPERTRAM services were suspended in part of Sheffield after a digger hit cables supporting overhead power lines.
The accident happened at about 1.15pm on Monday, in Ridgeway Road, Gleadless, near the Hollinsend Road tram stop.

It brought through services between Halfway, Herdings Park and Sheffield city centre to a halt.

Trams ran from the city centre to Spring Lane, in Arbourthorne, and south east of Manor Top, but replacement buses had to operate in between the stops.

Disruption continued through the afternoon rush hour and into the evening while repairs were carried out.
