THE grandmother of the South Yorkshire boy killed in a hit-and-run collision last year has given a lukewarm reaction to new death-crash sentencing guidelines.
Cath McDermott, whose seven-year-old grandson Kyle McDermott died when he was knocked off his bike by a van driver who sped off without stopping, fears the new guidance will make little difference.
She said today: "It sounds good on paper but it is not written in stone."
Kyle's death on Maple Road, Mexborough, sparked a campaign against speeding drivers in the area.
